FromFebruary 1934. and the question is why did Bantam wait until the
#40s and tollin wait until the #30s tp reissue it?

As Smiling Stan Lee used to say, "This one has it all, pilgrim!"

A great NYC beginning, with DOC right in the action in a frightful
snowstorm. Mysterious kidnappings and a beautiful babe in distress.
Mysterious earthquakes. A long plane ride "at nearly 200 miles per
hour" to mysterious and far-off Chile. The earthquakes controlled by
the Little White Brother. Loads of neat DOC gadgets. A scientific
foe DOC considers an equal in brilliance.

For completists, this is the one where DOC restores the eyesight in
Johnny's bad eye, but it is still before Johnny starts using big
words. The pig is there, but not the monkey yet -- that's another
South American adventure. Pat s not here -- she'd just been
introduced the month before. Ham lives in a PArk Avenue club, Monk
has his Wall Street penthouse, but Renny, Johnny, and Long Tom all
bunk together at a hotel near headquarters? One of the long DOCs --
154 pages in Bantam.

I did not find a single thing not to love about it. I would not argue
with it being in anyone's Top 10.

Their attitudes towards the babe in the book.

DOC of course totally unaffected.

Monk naturally after her. Ham probably would have been too, except on
first meeting she says he looks like a gigolo, so he ignores her.

Renny;s opinion, "If you were my daughter..."
