I was watching G4 TV with my son. They were at the San Diego Comic Con and
talking mostly about upcoming comic-to-movie adaptations. They were talking to
one of the producers of the Batman movies who said he had a surprise
announcement. He declared that they were going to make a movie about the "First
Superhero" and said it was Doc Savage!

Well, blow me down!

Is this the one that Sam Raimi's production company has been working
on?

Well hot-diggity. Here's hoping there's actually some movement on it
this time around.

This from Wikipedia...

According to long-time Batman producer Michael E. Uslan, a new Doc Savage film
is set to be produced, hopefully for 2009/2010 release. Uslan delivered the news
at Comic-Con '08.

Uslan does not exactly have a strong track record for movies that I've wanted to
see.

Good Grief.

So here's the deal:

Michael Uslan has produced some pretty impressive movies. But, what
I'm concerned with is who will direct the movie?

Producer Movie Director

Uslan The Dark Knight Christopher Nolan

Uslan The Spirit Frank Miller

Uslan National Treasure Jon Turteltaub

I'd like to see Turteltaub direct, as National Treasure was done in a
way I believe reflects the style that would best represent Savage.

What are your thoughts? Do you have a better director in mind? (maybe
Sam Raimi)

I don't want Raimi anywhere NEAR it. By all accounts, they fought the
whole time to get him to stick to any aspect of the Spider-Man mythos.
