"Maxwell Grant" authorship attribution for Doc Savage
(too old to reply)

Fellow Doc fans --

It may be a small thing, but it irritates me that Amazon.com is
attributing authorship of The Czar of Fear and The World's Fair Goblin
to "Maxwell Grant." That name, as most of y'all would know, was
Street & Smith's house name for the author of The Shadow novels.

Using Amazon's built-in catalog update system, I tried to get them to
correct the entry. This system requires URLs of websites showing
authoritative proof. I couldn't come up with anything beyond
Wikipedia entries for Doc Savage, Lester Dent, and Maxwell Grant.
Here's the reply I received:

Can any of you you more knowledgeable/scholarly types get on them with
better references than I could? With all the respect in the world due
Walter Gibson, he still shouldn't receive credit for Lester Dent's
work.

Thanks!

OK, I'll try an add to this but you really will have better hopes of
convincing Amazon-numb-nuts-in-charge to go with:
Lester Dent (October 12, 1904 – March 11, 1959) was a prolific pulp
fiction author of numerous stories, best known as the main author of
the series of stories about the superhuman scientist and adventurer,
Doc Savage. The stories were credited to the house name Kenneth
Robeson.
Kennith Robeson as an author's name. They can look at scanned cover
art and verify the verification themselves.

OK, here we go....

Well, damn'd if the Library of Congrsss isn't a bit of a let down, at
least the online access:
http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?SA=Savage%2C%20Doc%20%28Fictitious%20character%29%20Fiction%2E&SC=SUBJ&CNT=25&PID=VNEC4O1aW_ZGH2kRCNQrb0ywDNi&BROWSE=1&HC=2&SID=1
(This is not by any means the only search I did people...)

Hell, why not ref them back at their own site?:

http://www.amazon.com/tag/doc%20savage/products/ref=tag_tdp_sv_istp

Non-Authoritative, but useful links:

Who is Lester Dent?
http://docsavage.us/

Well, its late and I didn't do as good a job as I thought I might (in
the few mins I actually took to post this..) but as I go I'll toss in
a final link to a story synopsis:

[Thx to those who actually took the time to get this stuff online.]

Get them to look at the covers, they all say Kenneth Robeson at the top. Then
reference them back to the Wiki and other pages about the Kenneth Robeson house
name.

This last is a Lester Dent Bibliography complied by Will Murray. It's in pdf

Definitely more authoritative than what I found. This should do the trick
for Amazon.
