Latest re-read. Really, really good, even better than I remembered.
Very distinctive handling of the five assistants. Why did Bantam wait
until the #80s before reprinted it

I don't know, but I'm kind of glad they did.

King Maker was the second Doc I read (making it the first one I paid for). Such
a good story coming 80th in the series made it look like the quality for the
whole run was pretty good.

I don't know if I would have bought more if book 80 had been "Let's Kill Jones"
or some other forgettable title. As it was, I ended up buying new editions from
80 on as they came out, right to the end of the series, at the same time getting
the early numbers as they were reprinted. It wasn't until after college and a
move to the big city that I was able to fill in the books from 30 to 79.
