From 1941....
A weird mystery, this one degenerates into a long round of capture-and-
release.
Noteworthy because of the extreme stupidity of DOC's helpers. Again
and again they foul things up, fail to follow instructions, are unable
to exercise judgement or common sense. You can't leave them alone for
a minute . Enough to make the bronze guy think about going solo
In one scene, a guy who should have been searched comes up with a
pistol, pulls it on Monk, and tells Ham he means business. He's been
with them for hours, listening to their antics -- you'd think he'd
expect Ham to say something like, "Shoot him. Shoot the ape. Let me
know if you need more bullets." But it's a plot schtick, and Ham goes
along.
In the end the science mumbo-jumbo explanation seemed OK, except I was
missing half a page from an old blackmask online printing, so I still
don't know why the whole "elf" thing was there.
