It's on again, from the talentless hacks that gave us the last Zorro
movie -- the only Zorro movie so bad I didn't sit all the way through
it, and I've watched Zorro movies that weren't even in English, with him
fighting Maciste.

I'm already in line to not watch it.

Hey, that's what we THOUGHT the words were,
first time we saw the movie in the theater . . .

But how different can that be from Tarzan playing Doc Savage?

They should do a tv series, and do it like the old Banacek/Snoop
Sisters/McLeod format, a movie of the week based on a revolving set
of characters. Doc Savage one week, The Phantom another, then pull in
a couple of other superheroes of the era (I'm not sure which) so you're
back to Doc Savage after a month. Keep them in the thirties.

Ely worked for me, even if not much else did. I've seen the movie a few
times and own it. Orci's Zorro I turned off and walked away from. The
*only* Zorro movie I've *ever* done that with.

I said at the time, and still maintain, that after KING KONG, while they
still had 1930s Manhattan set up in New Zealand, sets, costumes, cars,
everything, they should have knocked out a BUNCH of programming. Shoot
some Shadows, Docs, what have yous. Do 'em in B&W, pick the easier
stories set in the city. Do 'em as serials, do 'em as hour eps. Crank
the darn material out while you can!

Huzzah! We have good news -- Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman have
absolutely nothing to do with the Doc Savage movie!!! Harry Knowles
says it was all a big misunderstanding/mishearing situation.

According to Knowles correction, Neal Moritz and Ori Marmur are
producing the movie for Sony Pictures.

Here are their IMDB pages:

Marmur -- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1506459/

Moritz -- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0605775/

Moritz and Marmur are currently co-producers of Seth Rogen's Green
Hornet movie, which does concern me because from what I've read Rogen
the movie as a comedy, Although to be fair to Moritz and Marmur, they
are 4 other ex. producers and producers on that movie and the movie is
really a Seth Rogen project first and foremost as he's the one who
pitched it to Sony, is Ex. Prod, and screenwriter on the movie.

I'm not quite sure what to make of these two producers yet -- but just
glancing through their IMDB pages they don't raise the same warning
flags that Orci & Kurtzman did. Moritz was a producer on the Fast &
Furious movies as well as the XXX movies but he has worked in several
different genres so I'm not immediately inclined to weigh those two
movie series heavily against the rest of his work.
