Has anyone here bought any of these books?

They're kind a bit expensive for 2 novels, even though they are new.
And a bit on the large size, which is a concern when you're running
out of space like I am.
Although, I would hope the print is larger too.

I wonder why they alternated between Bama covers and the other variety.

They are a quality product. In many cases, they have restored text from
Dent's manuscripts that never ran in the pulp, and every issue has notes
on how the stories evolved.

I agree with Ted! As an owner of all the Bantam reprints, and all of
the Marvel, DC, Millenium, etc. iterations of Doc Savage, I've found
these "Nostalgia Ventures/Sanctum Books" reprints of the novels well
worth the additional investment. I purchase the editions with all the
original covers ( (You can control whether you get the Bama covers or
the original covers.) I really enjoy the original artwork in the
books along with the introductions, inclusion of deleted material,
historical background and essays that are included in each edition.

As for the price? My Bantam editions run the range from 45 cents and
up. Honestly, I haven't figured it out, but I suspect the 45 cents
and up (as the later editions became) probably matches up pretty well
with our cost of about $6 per issue in 2010 inflation wise.

Additionally, if you're just getting started, there are heavily-
discounted multi-edition sets that you can pick up! A worthy addition
to the Doc Savage library!

Well worth the money. When you consider that if you go to the store
and buy a paperback today, you're looking at up to $9.95. You may not
even finish reading it, and even if you do, chances are most likely it
goes into donate/give away/trade pile. Whereas if you buy a DOC
double, you have something that will be on your shelves for the restof
your life.

My wife asked me the oter day, "How many books do you want to put in
the coffin with you?"

I told her none. If I'm going to Heaven, I'll have all the books I
can read. And Hell IS nothing to read.

I have 39 of them, number 40 is now available but I usually wait until
there are five or six new ones and buy them all at once. I'm in no hurry
to get them as I have plenty of the 39 and lots of other books to read.

Considering the price of used Bantam Doc Savage paperbacks these
days and how scarce they are in used bookstores, the price is not that
bad. I was in a Half Price bookstore today and saw 81 Bantam Doc
Savage books, which is the first time I saw any in a used bookstore in
more years then I can remember, and each one was $5.00. I have seen
them listed for more on eBay.

They may be taller and wider but they are not very thick. Each book is
only 5/16 of an inch thick and the 39 I have all fit in a 12 inch space on
my bookshelf.

I don't have a Bantam Doc Savage to compare them to, but each page
has two columns of print instead of one, and the print is about the same
size as most of the other paperbacks I have.

I don't know but I wish they would offer the alternate Bama covers on each
one instead of just select ones. I grew up in the Bantam age of Doc Savage
books and the Bama covers are more familiar to me.
