One that magnetically records on wire vs tape etc. I remember it
being a big deal as cutting edge tech in a Doc saga but of course it
doesn't seemed to have been popularized into the mainstream commercial
market, and doubly or course has been superseded in recent decades by
later tech.

Pretty sure I saw one at WIS Radio's 50th anniversary celebration back in
the 1980s. They had a studio tour with a lot of the old equipment on
display.

One also made an appearence in the Rick Brant book, _The Pirates of Shan_
(copyright 1958) as something small enough that Chada could carry it
concealed.

I actually owned one hahahah

Looked like a reel to reel tape recorder.

Very bulky. It actually worked too.
