My wife is now stuck in the 1930's with boxed-sets of "The Waltons".
I find John-Boy even more insufferable now than I did in the 1970s,
the playing fast and loose with actual history irritating, and the
gaffes too much to take (a little southern hamlet with dirt streets
and concrete sidewalks?).
I keep thinking, what could improve this, and the answer is obvious --
dirigibles and autogyros! If only John-Boy yearned to write for
ASTOUNDING. Or an evil mastermind dug his undergorund lair under
Walton's Mountain... Think of the crossover potential...
"Good night , DOC."
"Good night, John Boy."
Good night, DOC."
Good night, Ham."
Good night, Mary Ellen."
"Good night, Monk."
"Mary Ellen, did you know Monk has a wife and 13 half-witted children
back in New York City?"
"Why you two-bit shyster, I'll..."
SOUND EFFECTS: YELLING< RUNNING FEET< FURNITURE BREAKING< ETC>
